Why 90% of people don't know where their money goes
Financial literacy for everyone
We often say to ourselves: “I didn’t buy anything special — and there’s no money again!”
This is a familiar feeling for most Ukrainians. According to statistics, more than 90% of people do not keep track of their expenses. And therefore, they actually have no control over where their money goes.

Financial irresponsibility does not appear suddenly. It is formed by dozens of small habits:
buying “on emotions” — coffee, snacks, fast food;
ordering online “on sale” without real need;
not having a monthly spending plan;
invisible subscriptions and fees — Netflix, Spotify, cloud services, bank payments.
When each of these little things takes away 50–100 UAH per day, a few thousand are formed in a month. They are the “hole” through which your budget leaks.
How accounting changes the situation
Start simple - write down every expense for at least 14 days. You can do this in:
a mobile application like Money Lover, ZenMoney, Wallet;
Google Sheets or even a regular notebook.
After two weeks, you will see patterns:
where you overpay;
which expenses can be reduced without harm;
how much you can realistically save each month.
Even basic control helps to save 10-20% of your income each month.
Why it matters right now
In a world where inflation and prices are rising every year, taking control of your finances is not just a good habit, but a survival tool.
A budget is your financial GPS. Without it, you don’t know where you are or how to get to your goal—savings, investments, or financial freedom.
Tip of the Week
Create a separate file or app for accounting today.
Start with a simple goal: “Find out where my money is going.” Вже за тиждень ви побачите перші результати — і відчуєте контроль, який раніше здавався недосяжним.
